Why to buy a solar water heater over solar electric panels

When people talk about installing solar panels at their home they are almost always talking about solar electric (or photovoltaic) panels. Large sums of money are invested in these solar electric systems either by the homeowner or by various schemes that lease the installation back to the homeowner.
The cost of solar electric panels currently is somewhere around 2 dollars per watt, but with the remainder of the system and installation costs included mostly the cost is several tens of thousands of dollars. If you calculate how long it takes for such an installation to pay for itself you will come up with 10 years or more.
Looking at the energy usage in the average home you see that the energy used to heat water is a large part of the total energy bill. Add to that the fact that solar water heating panels currently cost about 30 cents per watt and you can see that a solar water heater offers costs a lot less for the same output. In fact one of our simple yet effective complete system kits can pay for itself in a year or two. We have meticulously designed it to reduce the initial investment in the equipment, shipping, and ease of installation. The result is that you get somewhere between 8 to 10 times the bang for your buck.
